Hawaii Real Estate License & Course Info

What are the steps to get your Hawaii Real Estate License?Students are required to pass the prelicensing course, pass their state exam (adminstered through the company PSI Exams), and submit their application to the State of Hawaii. Students also need to work with a brokerage and pay any necessary application fees, as well as wait 3-4 weeks for their applications to be reviewed and approved. Students from any island can take the course because the course curriculum is standardized state-wide, and the state exam is the same for students regardless of where the student resides. In addition, the the license is good state-wide meanings students from Oahu can sell real estate in Kauai and vice versa. Students from Oahu, Big Island, Maui, Kauai, and Lanai can all take the same course and will learn all of the necessary information to pass their State Licensing Exam. The course, exam and license are all good state-wide.

Can I add the Instructor Series to my enrollment?Sure! If you would like to upgrade to the 3 week Instructor Series, students will need to make a payment ($400) and email the School Director. The payment link is found below.

What will I learn in this course?The prelicensing course has a mandated curriculum provided to us by the State of Hawaii which prepares you for your licensing exam. Topics include: the practice of real estate, Hawaii licensing laws, agency law and ethics, ​methods of ownership, land and water rights, restrictions on ownership, estates and interests, fair housing laws, real estate contracts, financing, appraisals, property management & leasing, and property types.

What if I need help while taking the online course? Is help available?Yes, it is! Just give us a call or email us your question and we will get back to you. We provide help every step of the way - from the very beginning all the way to the completion of the course! Even after you graduate, our helpful School Director will help answer your questions about taking the exam or choosing a brokerages. We pride ourselves in helping our students succeed.

How do I get my required Certificate of Completion?You will receive it via email (not regular mail). Students must print out the certificate and bring it with them to their PSI state licensing exam. Certificates are made each Wednesday, but if you need a "rush job" we can accomodate you with an expedited certifcate fee. Please allow one business day for the expedited certificate. If you misplace your certificate, a fee of $50.00 will be charged for each replacement certificate provided.

What if my course is about to expire and I'm not done, or I want to use it to study? What can I do?No problem. Typically students complete the course in a couple of weeks to a couple of months, but if "life happens" and you experience a delay in your studies, don't worry... you can renew the course prior to the expiration date for a $100 fee and all of your course progress will remain saved for you. Please make your renewal payment below. Students whose course has expired and have not renewed their course will be given a 50% off discount on the course tuition if they want to reinstate their registration within a year of the expiration date.

What if I change my mind and don't want to get my real estate license anymore. Can I get a refund?Unfortunately no - refunds are not provided.

​What are the requirements to get your Hawaii Real Estate License?To be eligilble to get your Hawaii Real Estate Salesperson License you must be at least 18 years old, be a United States citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. (including have a SS #), possess a reputation for or record of competency, honesty, truthfulness, financial integrity and fair dealing. and have received a high school education or its equivalent.

What do I need to do after I pass the Hawaii Real Estate Exam (PSI Exam)?First, take a moment to celebrate your achievement! After successfully passing the State Real Estate licensing exam, students must apply for their license but the state provides a long window of time to do that (two (2) years). Students should interview with different brokerages and decide which brokerage is best for them. They will need to note the brokerage in their licensing application to the State of Hawaii. Once submitted, keep in mind the state takes 3-4 weeks to process the application. Licensing fees must be paid at the time of application to the State of Hawaii.

How long do I have access to this course?Students have access to the course for one year from their registration date (the date that the payment is made). Students typically take 4-6 weeks to complete the course.

What is it like taking the State Licensing Exam? How much is it?The exam is given by the company, PSI and is $61. It has two parts - the "Uniform" portion covering general real estate principles and practices and the "State Law" section dealing with specific Hawaii statutes. The exam consists of multiple choice questions only. Each section of the exam is graded separately and requires a passing score of 70% each (75% for Broker Exam). Students will receive a detailed booklet with an outline of what topics are on the exam, as well as step by step instructions on how to register with their course materials.

I live on Big Island, Oahu, etc... Does this course "count" for me? Yes!The class does "count" for you! It doesn't matter what Island you live on, or if you're on the Mainland, this course has been approved by the Hawaii Real Estate Division for students from all islands and will prepare you for acing your licensing exam! Passing this course provides you the official certificate needed to take your Hawaii Real Estate Exam, which include the same questions regardless of where you are taking the exam.
